AMES, Iowa -- One day after claiming its ninth Big 12 title, No. 4 Oklahoma closed out the regular season with its third Big 12 sweep of the season by defeating Iowa State, 5-1, in the final game of the three-game series. The 2012 squad tied the program record set by the 2000 National Championship team with its 85th home run of the year as Georgia Casey hit her ninth of the season in the game's sixth inning. The team is just three home runs away from the Big 12 single season record of 88 set by Texas in 2010.

With the win, OU moved to 45-8 on the year and 19-5 in the Big 12 while Iowa State fell to 14-39 and 2-22. The Sooners now await the NCAA's announcement of its regional field tonight at 9 p.m. CST on ESPNU.

Keilani Ricketts got the start for the Sooners in the circle and moved to 28-7 on the year with her 25th complete game this season. The junior allowed just three hits while striking out nine and giving up no walks. Tori Torrescano took the loss for Iowa State to fall to 8-27 on the year as Oklahoma collected 10 hits and four walks while striking out just three times.

The Sooners jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first inning as the first three Oklahoma batters reached first base safely. Casey hit lead off for the first time of the season and responded with a single up the middle before Destinee Martinez laid down a bunt. A late throw from Torrescano was over the head of Iowa State's first baseman to allow Casey to round third and head home for OU's first run of the day.

After Martinez was caught stealing at second, Lauren Chamberlain walked and Ricketts struck out before Jessica Shults sent a single through the right side of the Cyclone defense. An Erica Sampson single to left field loaded the bases for Brittany Williams who promptly sent a double to left to score Chamberlain and Shults.

Iowa State cut into the Oklahoma lead in the second inning when Dalyn Varela sent a solo home run over the left field fence.

The score remained that way until the sixth inning when Katie Norris led off with a single down the left field line before being replaced on the base path by Jessica Vest. A Javen Henson sacrifice bunt moved Vest to second before Casey sent a two-run shot to straightaway center field for an Oklahoma 5-1 lead.
