NORMAN, Okla. -- Junior college All-American Portia Durrett has filed a National Letter of Intent with University of Oklahoma women's basketball, head coach Sherri Coale said Monday.

Durrett, a 6-foot-2 power forward, led Walters State (Morristown, Tenn.) Community College to a 28-4 record and top-10 national ranking in 2011-12. The Seneca, Ky., native averaged 15.4 points and 7.8 rebounds and was the NJCAA Region VII Player of the Year in addition to All-America First Team honors.

"Portia is a talented athlete who can score inside and out," Coale said. "She's physical, and she's aggressive and she loves to be in the gym. Our fans are going to love Portia Durrett."

As a high school senior, Durrett was one of the top players in Kentucky and an all-district selection.  She outshined 43 invitees to earn one of 12 spots on her state's roster for the Kentucky/Indiana All-Star Series and averaged 20.5 points in two games.

Durrett joins an incoming class of highly-touted freshmen Nicole Kornet and Maddie Manning. Kornet, of Argyle (Texas) Liberty Christian, was the WBCA High School All-America Team MVP and Manning, of Ankeny, Iowa, was her state's Gatorade Player of the Year.

Also returning for Oklahoma will be two team captains, Lyndsey Cloman and Jasmine Hartman, who suffered ACL injuries in the preseason and missed the entire 2011-12 season.
