NORMAN, Okla. - Nine starters of the 12th-ranked University of Oklahoma wrestling squad will compete at the 2012 NCAA Championships next week in St. Louis, Mo., as the NCAA granted 197-pounder Keldrick Hall an at-large bid Wednesday evening.
The total surpasses the eight participants OU sent to the NCAA Championships last season where Oklahoma finished 16th overall.
Hall, the only Sooners not to automatically qualify from the Big 12 Championships last weekend, will join teammates Jarrod Patterson (125), Jordan Keller (133), Kendric Maple (141), Nick Lester (149), Matt Lester (157), Bubby Graham (165), Kyle Detmer (174) and Erich Schmidtke (184) at the NCAAs, March 15-17.
Additionally, first round matchups were announced by the NCAAs. Sooners awarded national seeds were No. 2 Maple and No. 7 Patterson.
