NORMAN- The No. 24 University of Oklahoma baseball team lost 8-7 in game two against Kansas State on Saturday.
OU won game one 5-1 on Friday night and led 7-6 on Saturday until KSU plated two runs in the eighth.
Hunter Lockwood drove in a career-best five RBI for the Sooners, who were outhit 12-11 by the Wildcats.
After falling behind 4-0 after three innings, the OU offense came alive in the fourth, cutting the lead in half off double by Lockwood. Caleb Bushyhead followed with a RBI single to center field.
Unfortunately for the Sooners and their starter Dillon Overton, Kansas State came right back in the fifth with a two-run homer by Blair DeBord.
The Sooners kept fighting in the bottom half of the fifth inning as Lockwood cleared the fence down the right-field line for his Big 12 leading eighth homer of the year. The three-run shot followed a RBI single by Jack Mayfield and gave the Sooners their first lead of the afternoon at 7-6.
Overton recorded a 1-2-3 sixth inning and recorded the first two outs of the seventh before he was relieved by Kindle Ladd.
In the eighth, KSU regained the lead with a pair of runs on OU reliever Steven Okert, including a triple down the right-field line by Jon Davis.
Okert took loss and dropped to 3-2 on the season.
