NORMAN, Okla. -- A five-game losing streak ended on Tuesday as Oklahoma won the first game of a doubleheader 8-5 over visiting Air Force.
The win improved the Sooners' overall record to 12-9 while the Falcons fell to 4-13. Game two got underway at 4:15 p.m.
OU fell behind 2-0 in the first inning after a pair of errors by starting pitcher Jacob Rhame. Evan Mistich cut the Sooners' deficit down to one with a RBI single in the bottom of first.
A sacrifice fly by Hunter Lockwood in the fifth tied the game at four apiece while a two-run single by Dylan Neal in the seventh gave OU a 6-4 advantage.
OU reliever Steven Bruce took advantage of his seventh appearance of the season and allowed one run over the final 4 1/3 innings to improve to 1-0. He allowed three hits and two walks for the third victory of his career.
Mistich, Max White and Matt Oberste led OU with two hits apiece.
After the two-game set with Air Force, OU returns to Big 12 play and hits the road for the first time in conference action at Texas Tech over the weekend (March 23-25).
