WACO, Texas -- Oklahoma's Sharane Campbell was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week, voted by a media panel for games played Jan. 30-Feb. 5, Monday by the conference office.

It is the fourth such honor for Campbell, who led the Sooners to two victories last week at Kansas and versus Oklahoma State. The freshman averaged 21.5 points and 8.5 rebounds while hitting 74 percent (14-of-19) of her field goal attempts.

Campbell connected on eight of 10 shots for a career-high 23 points in OU's 78-64 overtime win at Kansas. She totaled five points in overtime as OU outscored Kansas 10-4 in the extra period. Campbell also had a career-high four steals in the contest.

The Spencer, Okla., native led the Sooners to an 80-71 win over Oklahoma State with a 20-point, 12-rebound performance for her first career double-double.

Campbell has averaged 16.2 points since junior forward Joanna McFarland has been out of the lineup with a broken jaw.

Iowa State junior forward Chelsea Poppens was the Big 12 Player of the Week after averaging 19 points and 13.5 rebounds in wins against Oklahoma State and Texas.

Oklahoma faces No. 1 Baylor Monday at 8 p.m. Central. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
