Postgame Notes

February 04, 2012 | Men's Basketball

Feb. 4, 2012

• Iowa State hit an Oklahoma-opponent-record 15 3-pointers and held on for a 77-70 road win, snapping the Sooners' five-game winning streak over the Cyclones.  OU had won seven straight against ISU in Norman (last home loss came in 1996 in the final year of the Big Eight Conference).

• ISU's 15 treys came on 30 attempts (50 percent shooting).  Six Cyclones made at least one 3-pointer and five made at least two.  Chris Babb, who was 5-for-28 from long distance over the last six games, went 4-for-7 tonight.

• OU's nine-rebound advantage (38-29) was its largest in Big 12 play this year.  The Sooners grabbed 12 offensive rebounds and outscored ISU 14-7 in second-chance points.

• Junior forwards Andrew Fitzgerald and Romero Osby teamed to score 44 of OU's 70 points on 17-for-28 (.607) shooting.  Fitzgerald was 11-for-19 from the field and finished with a career-high 27 points (previous high was 22, three times).  Osby was 6-for-9 from the field and tallied 17 points.  It was his seventh performance of at least 15 points in the last eight outings.

• Steven Pledger reached double figures for the 20th time in 21 games this year with his 14 points.  The junior guard was 4-for-8 from 3-point range and is now shooting .449 from behind the arc on the year (57-for-127).

• Sophomore guard Cameron Clark's 11 rebounds tied a career high and were his most since the first game of his collegiate career (last year vs. Coppin State).

• Junior point guard Sam Grooms handed out nine assists (one shy of his career high) against just two turnovers.  Over the last six games, he has 40 assists and seven turnovers (5.7 ratio).

• Oklahoma held just three leads in the game, all in the first half.  After trailing by 10 (50-40), the Sooners rallied to tie the game at 56 with 7:49 remaining but were outscored 21-14 the rest of the way.

• Iowa State sophomore forward Royce White entered the game averaging 15.2 points, 10.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists but was held to three points, four boards and seven assists.  He made his only field goal attempt.

• The Sooners are back home Monday to face No. 4 Missouri at 6 p.m. CT (televised by ESPNU).
