Big 12 Coaches Pick Women's Tennis Fifth

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team was chosen fifth in the first ever Big 12 preseason poll of the conference's coaches, announced by the league Monday.

Baylor was unanimously selected to claim an eighth consecutive league title in 2012. The Lady Bears received nine first-place votes to secure the top spot over Texas, which tallied one first-place nod.

Texas A&M and Texas Tech tied for third place with 61 points each, while the Sooners came in fifth with 46 points.

Oklahoma is currently ranked No. 35 in the country and is 5-6 overall this season.  The Sooners open Big 12 play Saturday, March 3 at noon with Bedlam against Oklahoma State at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
