Sooners Hit High Marks in the Classroom

NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma student-athletes continue to do the job in the classroom as well as on the field of competition, based on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll for the fall 2011 semester.
OU's 21 sports produced 309 student-athletes who were named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll. To earn a place on that list, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 GPA during the fall semester.
Additionally, 58 student-athletes earned a 4.00 grade point average in the fall 2011 semester.
The Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll is an inclusive honor for varsity sports sponsored by the membership of the league. The Commissioner's Honor Roll is recorded and released each semester and recognizes those student-athletes who recorded a 3.00 or better GPA the previous semester. More than 2,000 student-athletes each semester have been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the Conference's 16-year tenure.

Those lofty numbers produced team grade point averages above a 3.00 for 11 of OU's teams.
