Postgame Quotes

November 10, 2012 | Women's Basketball

  Head Coach Sherri Coale

On the game:
"I was really pleased with how we guarded. We shot it well, but that was not surprising. Just really proud of their effort and performance on the road. It's really hard to start your season on the road, especially against a team the caliber of Creighton.

"I thought our second four-minute interval of the first half was really where we got some distance. I think that comes from being able to rotate fresh bodies."

On relying on a post-oriented offense in the first half to perimeter shooting in the second:

"We have a very confident offensive team, and they have great faith in their abilities to score from all spots. I thought Nicole Griffin established herself early. She was really good at catching and making extra passes or catching and going to the rim. You could tell Creighton had to take that away first and that's what opened up Vegas and Whitney for shots in the second half."

On opening the second half with four straight 3-pointers:
"It was just rhythm on our behalf, I think. I thought we did a better job of putting the ball on the floor, drawing help, and then kicking it to open guys."

On the team's reserves and overall play:
"I thought our energy was good. I thought our ball security in the second half was suspect."
