The 69-48 win kept Oklahoma undefeated in the series' four-game history. OU played to a 94-76 win in Norman on Dec. 2, 1985; a 69-49 win in Norman on Dec. 3, 2008; and 67-58 win in Omaha on Dec. 20, 2009. In each of the past seasons Oklahoma played Creighton, it advanced to at least the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA tournament.
The win improves Oklahoma's record in season openers to 24-15. It was Oklahoma's 22nd season opener away from home in 39 seasons. The Sooners are 10-12 all-time in away season openers.
Oklahoma is 13-4 in season openers under Sherri Coale. Coale's record at OU improves to 358-168 (.687).
Aaryn Ellenberg scored 19 points to increase her career total to 2,014 and move to 25th on Oklahoma's all-time scoring list, passing LaNae Jones (1,096 points).
Whitney Hand, 24th on OU's career scoring list, totaled 14 points and has 1,125 in her career, 13 behind Mandy Wade.
Hand made three 3-pointers to match Carin Stites for fifth on OU's career 3-pointers made list with 152. Ellenberg raised her career total to 172 and is two behind Etta Maytubby for second all-time.
