NORMAN, Okla. -- The Warren Theatre in Moore, Okla., hosted the world premiere of The History of Oklahoma Football Part III: Dynasty of Championships on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012.?
The third in a four-part DVD series, this edition is devoted to the Chuck Fairbanks and Barry Switzer eras, covering the span of OU football history from 1964-89.

The planned four-part DVD series is produced by OU's very own SoonerVision. Part III: Dynasty of Championships examines the national championship teams of 1974, 1975 and 1985, in addition to squads that captured Big 8 titles on 15 occasions. This installment also takes an extensive look at OU's switch to the wishbone offense, as well as the Sooners' storied rivalry with the University of Nebraska. The careers of Heisman Trophy winners Steve Owens and Billy Sims are also chronicled in Part III.

Part I: Birth of a Champion, which was released in 2010, chronicled the period from the inception of the program in 1895 and focused on the Bennie Owen era. Part II: Legacy of Winning encompassed the Bud Wilkinson era from 1947-63 and was released last year. Selected segments of Part I and Part II are scheduled to begin airing on FOX Sports Oklahoma in December.

Sooner Sports Properties, the multimedia rights holder for OU Athletics, underwrote the project and is handling distribution.

OU alum and current CBS broadcaster Spencer Tillman is the host for the series.
About the History DVD Series
SoonerVision, the video production unit for the University of Oklahoma's Athletics Department, is putting together the most comprehensive DVD series ever issued on the history of Sooner football.?
The History of Oklahoma Football DVD series is being produced and directed by Brandon Meier, assistant athletics director/broadcast operations and Jacob Potter, director of programming and production for SoonerSportsTV.

"From the time Brandon joined our staff, he talked about this project," said Kenny Mossman, senior associate athletics director for external operations. "The final result is truly stunning and something in which Oklahoma fans can take great pride.

"The amount of work that SoonerVision poured into this effort, including the location of and refurbishing of hours of vintage video, is amazing. This DVD reflects that hard work in its incredible thoroughness. Even those fans that have soaked up every ounce of OU history will see and hear things that have never before been made available to the public."

Meier said his staff was determined to provide the most definitive piece ever done on Sooner football.

"We understand the passion of our fans and worked to produce a piece that would meet their standard," he said. "We set out to tell the comprehensive story of this program from a fresh perspective. I believe this is something that will provide hours of enjoyment to OU fans."

The SoonerVision staff began with 8,000 films in its own library and worked to get those identified and transferred to a digital format. Meier estimated that more than 8,000 man hours were invested in getting the project completed.

"I'm pleased with the final product," Meier said. "It tells some stories that haven't been told before. I find myself enamored by the old film, how they played and how the stadium looked. It's easy to get caught up in all of that. The footage is great."
