NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma's Sharane Campbell was named the Big 12 Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week, chosed by a media voting panel for games played Dec. 27-Jan. 1.

It was the second such honor for the Sooner newcomer.

Campbell came off the bench to score 17 points in just 18 minutes in the Sooners' 82-54 win over TCU on Dec. 28.  She was the game's second-leading scorer, trailing only her teammate Aaryn Ellenberg's 24-point performance.

The Spencer, Okla., native was 5-of-7 (.714) from the field and connected on seven of eight (.875) free throw attempts. Campbell added three rebounds and two steals to a scoring total that was two points shy of her collegiate best.

The freshman is seventh among Big 12 players with a .833 free throw percentage and leads OU in field goal percentage, carrying a 59.3 percent success rate into conference play.

Iowa State's Chelsea Poppens was the Big 12 player of the week.

Campbell and the Sooners host Iowa State Wednesday at 7 p.m. to begin the reformatted Big 12 schedule in which every league team will play one another home and away.
