NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma cross country teams open the 2011 season at the Tulsa Hurricane Festival, Saturday Sept. 3, at Mohawk Park in Tulsa, Okla.

The No. 6 nationally-ranked men's team runs the four-mile race at 8 a.m. CT followed by the women's two-mile race at 8:35 a.m. against Oklahoma State, Arkansas-Forth Smith and Tulsa.

Competing for the Oklahoma men are Ross Larimer, Frezer Legesse, Daniel Nicolls, Ryan Poland, Malcolm Wankel and Taylor Wardall. Larimer raced the event last season, placing 17th. The Hurricane Festival is the Oklahoma debut for Legesse, Poland, Wankel and Wardall.

The Oklahoma women will feature Molly Ferguson, who placed fifth at last year's competition, along with fellow senior Annie Martin and sophomore Kelsey Brown.

Six newcomers compete for the first time as Shannon Hackney, Juliann Jantz, Caitlin Maggio, Kelley Raines, Brittany Holt and Jazmin Scott make their debuts as Oklahoma runners.
