NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma Head Cross Country Coach Martin Smith announced the 2011 women's cross country class on Wednesday.
The class of 18 covers four states and consists of three freshman, five redshirt freshman, one sophomore, six redshirt sophomores and two redshirt juniors.
The incoming freshman include Brittany Holt (Elgin, Okla.), Kristiani Miller (Edmond, Okla.) and Abby Tillman (Hennessey, Okla.). Juliann Jantz (Dickson, Okla.), Kelley Raines (Edmond, Okla.), Jazmin Scott (Ocean Springs, Miss.), Sarah Wible (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Megan Thompson (Albuquerque, N.M.) are all a part of the redshirt freshman class.
Regan Tindell is the lone incoming sophomore, but she is joined by six redshirt sophomores including Tufica Bell (Yukon, Okla.), Shannon Hackney (Purcell, Okla.), Lindsey Lasater (Garland, Texas), Amy Leonard (Plano, Texas), Caitlin Maggio (Austin, Texas) and Susan Stancampiano (Mustang, Okla.).
Redshirt juniors Kaely Jackson (Edmond, Okla.) and Bethany Miskel (Mesquite, Texas) round out the new class.
The newcomers will join with the returning runners to complete a stellar roster for this upcoming season. Top returning runners Annie Martin and Molly Ferguson lead the pack after finishing last season with strong performances in the NCAA Midwest Regional.
Last year the OU women's team was ranked in the top 15 of the Midwest Region for six weeks, ranking as high as No. 13.
