NORMAN, Okla. - The No. 12 Oklahoma baseball team had 10 honorees on the 2011 All-Big 12 teams announced on Tuesday, including three first team members. Captains Garrett Buechele, Tyler Ogle and Michael Rocha were named first team honorees while Cameron Seitzer and Casey Johnson were tabbed second team members.

Evan Mistich, Dillon Overton and Burch Smith were named honorable mention and Jordan John joined Overton on the All-Big 12 Freshman team.

The three first team members is tied for the second most by an Oklahoma squad in the Big 12 era behind the five honored in 1998. The Sooners also had three first team honorees in 2009 and 1997.

Buechele made his second straight appearance on the first team after starting all 55 regular season games and ranking in the top 10 in the Big 12 in five offensive categories, including first with 61 RBI. The Arlington, Texas, native was a second team member in 2009 when he was named the league's top freshman.

The last Sooner to appear on back-to-back All-Big 12 first teams was Casey Bookout, who appeared on the lists in 1997, 1998 and 1999. Geoff Geary (1997 and 1998) is the only other Sooner in the Big 12 era to repeat as a first team member.

Ogle, a native of San Antonio, Texas, earned his first career honor one week after being selected as one of 13 semifinalists for the 2011 Johnny Bench Award. Ogle has started all but four games behind the plate for the Sooners and ranks in the top 10 in the Big 12 in six offensive categories.

Rocha is also collecting his first league honor after leading the league with five complete games. Rocha, who ranks third all-time at OU with 27 career wins, is also third in the Big 12 with 10 wins and fourth in ERA at 1.82.

Besides Buechele, Seitzer is the only returning all-conference member from 2010. Seitzer was honorable mention last season and is hitting .347 in 2011, good for fifth in the Big 12. Seitzer has started all 55 games at first base and leads the team with 23 multi-hit games.

The Sooners, seeded third, will battle Kansas State on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in their first game of the 2011 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship at 7:30 p.m. at Redhawks Field in downtown Oklahoma City. KSU (34-21, 12-14 Big 12) is seeded sixth after it swept Kansas last weekend to move up from eighth place into sixth.

OU won eight out of the last 10 games and finished the regular season with a 40-15 overall record and 14-11 mark in Big 12 play. It marked the third straight year that Oklahoma recorded 40 or more wins in the regular season, a first since the 1986-1987-1988 and 1989 Sooners accomplished the feat.

The Big 12 Championship returns to the double-elimination format for the first time since 2005. The conference's postseason tournament was operating under a two-division, pool play format in each of the past five seasons.
