Sooners Fall to No. 7 Baylor in NCAA Second Round

WACO, Texas – The 24th-ranked Oklahoma women's tennis lost in the second round of the 2011 NCAA Championships to No. 1-seeded Baylor, 4-0, on Sunday in Waco, Texas.
Oklahoma (19-7, 9-2 Big 12) finishes the season with the fourth most season wins in program history.
The Sooners advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament for just the third time in school history.
The Sooners lost the doubles point for just the sixth time this season to trail Baylor 1-0 heading into singles.
Baylor's Taylor Ormond and Jelena Stanivuk defeated Ana-Maria Constantinescu and Mia Lancastere at the No. 2 spot, 8-1, while Tara Eckel and Marie-Pier Huet lost at the No. 3 position to BU's Novakova and Nakic, 8-4.
The Bears took over in singles after winning the first three singles points to clinch the win. Eckel lost to Ormond at the No. 6 spot, 6-3, 6-2, to give Baylor a 2-0 lead.
Huet fell to Nakic at the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 6-2, while Baylor's 14th-ranked Novakova defeated
Constantinescu at the No. 1 spot, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1, to clinch the victory.
With the win, Baylor will advance to the Sweet Sixteen of the 2011 NCAA Championships held in Stanford, Calif., May 20-24.
