Rowing Faces Weekend of Racing in Tennessee

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma women's rowing team are in Oak Ridge, Tenn., May 14-15 for the Conference USA Championship and the Oak Ridge Regional.

 

Notes on the Weekend

Oklahoma competes against Conference USA members Saturday - No. 15 Texas, Kansas, Kansas State, Tulsa, SMU, Tennessee and UCF. The Sooners then face No. 5 Virginia, No. 11 Clemson, No. 20 Notre Dame, Louisville, Duke, Tulsa, Rhode Island, UCF and Miami in the Oak Ridge Regional.
 
Conference USA Championships
 
The varsity eight boat kicks off Saturday's races at 8:10 a.m. CT against Kansas State, Tennessee and Kansas. The top three finishers advance to the grand final and the remaining boats head to the petites.
 
The second varsity eight and varsity four follow, also competing against Kansas State, Tennessee and Kansas. The top three finishers head to the grand finals and the rest head to the petites.
 
The novice eight and open four end the morning session, competing against Texas and UCF at 9 a.m. and 9:20 a.m. respectively.
 
The grand and petite finals take place Saturday afternoon from 1:20 p.m. to 2:50 p.m. with the awards presentation at 3:45 p.m.
 
Oak Ridge Regional
 
The Oak Ridge Regional kicks off Sunday morning with the open four event at 8 a.m. OU competes against Louisville, Virginia, Notre Dame, Duke and Tulsa, with the top three finishers advancing to the grand final and places four through six head to the petite final.
 
The varsity four follows at 8:20 a.m. against Rhode Island, Duke, Virginia and Tulsa. The second varsity eight competes at 8:40 p.m. against Rhode Island, Duke, Virginia and Tulsa.
 
The varsity eight competes at 9a.m. against Tulsa, Virginia, Notre Dame and Rhode Island. The top three finishers of the varsity four, second varsity eight and varsity eight head to the grand final, and places four and five head to the petite final.
 
The first novice eight will compete at 11:30 a.m. against Miami, Notre Dame, Virginia and Clemson. This race will serve as the final for the event.
 
The grand and petite finals take place in the Sunday afternoon session from 11:40 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.
