Rowing Gears Up for Big 12 Championship

NORMAN, Okla. –The University of Oklahoma rowing team heads to the Big 12 Championship in Kansas City, Kan., April 30. This marks the third annual Big 12 Championship, with Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma and No. 15 Texas scheduled to compete. This is Oklahoma's second year to compete fully in the championship, finishing second last year behind Texas. OU entered three boats, two short of the minimum for team scoring, in the 2009 meet.
“We've finally arrived at the Big 12 Championship,” Head Coach Leeanne Crain said. “We've been talking about and preparing for this day since we returned to campus in August. We have prepared intensively for the last eight months and are as ready as we can be. We've had a rough couple of weeks with illnesses and injuries, but everyone is healthy and ready to race.”
The first and second novice eight, the first and second varsity four, and first and second varsity eight will compete against Kansas, Kansas State and Texas simultaneously. The races begin at 9:40 a.m. CT.
