Oklahoma Head Coach Sherri Coale
On the Sooners three point shooting:
“We're really proud of our guards and the way we ran to the corners in transition. I thought their zone affected the tempo in the first half and we didn't allow it to in the second half.”
On OU's performance:
“I'm happy with our leadership tonight, especially the fact that Lauren Willis got in and hit the deep 3 of the night and did a great job of what she does which is get up, shoot 3's and make them. I thought Carlee (Roethlisberger) got us started early and Danielle (Robinson) really controlled the tempo of the game. Just a really great night for all three of the seniors.”
On Carlee Roethlisberger setting the tempo of the game early:
“Those are the kind of players we have here who play along throughout their careers where they're at their best in the final weeks of their senior season. Really proud of these guys tonight, and really glad to see Whitney Hand making 3's tonight, even though she's not a senior.
On accomplishing the three-seed for the Big 12 tournament:
“That's a huge accomplishment and as coaches we sometimes look at it and say if one ball had just rolled in we would have been tied for first. But I think our kids have really battled valiantly, I'm proud of them. I'm proud of their resilience, I'm proud of the fact that we're continuing to get better. We've got to go to Lubbock this weekend and take care of that one and then head to Kansas City and see if we can just shake things up there.”
Oklahoma State Head Coach Kurt Budke
On OU's offensive performance:
“They are just a heck of an offensive team. They just scored 81 against the number one team in the conference ... Baylor, who I don't know if they are still the number one defensive team in the country but they scored 81 against them they put 91 on Texas. Their 1, 2 and 3 as a group might be the best scoring 1, 2 and 3 in the country as a group. You just kind of pick your poison. We have kind of been a zone team all year long with this young group and we didn't feel like we could match up well man to man. So we just came into the game plan and switched it up a little bit. You just have to give them credit for being a really good offensive team.”
On Danielle Robinson:
“Danielle had a heck of a career. I don't know where she will rank in Oklahoma history but she'd probably be in that top five conversation somewhere in there with the program. What's amazing about her is for someone who doesn't shoot the 3 and to score that many points is really amazing. She gets it done a lot of ways. She is going to make a great pro for somebody.”
Oklahoma State Sophomore Forward Toni Young
On her team's performance:
“I think we played really hard tonight, like he said, we let down a couple minutes and relaxed a little bit. Instead of holding on and pushing catch-up or even passing and scoring.”
On playing in the atmosphere at OU:
“Coming in the first half was OK. The second half was a little bit better, I just had to play with my team. Playing in a crowd like this and have good numbers scoring that means we did pretty well.”
