FULLERTON, Calif. - The ninth-ranked University of Oklahoma softball team split a pair of games Friday morning at the Judi Garman Classic. OU fell to Penn State 5-2 in the day's first game and rebounded to run rule Pacific, 13-2, in five innings.

Oklahoma got grand slams from Dani Dobbs and a walk-off from Jessica Shults to down Pacific 13-2 in the second game on Friday morning. OU scored single runs in the first and third innings and poured on six in the fourth and five in the bottom of the fifth to force the run rule.
Michelle Gascoigne pitched a complete game, allowing two earned runs on five hits. Gascoigne didn't allow a walk and struck out five.
Dobbs ended the game 2-for-3 with five runs driven in. The grand slam was the first of her career. Shults went 2-for-3 with four RBI and three runs scored. Shults' grand slam was her second of the year and 16th home run of the season, setting a new single-season high for the sophomore. It was also the second time the Sooners have hit two grand slams in a single game this year.
Chana'e Jones also added two hits, as did Destinee Martinez. Six of OU's nine batters recorded a hit.
Pacific scored both runs in the top of the fifth when pinch runner Gabby Goyette and Alexa Rivera came around to score.
Penn State 5, Oklahoma 2
Penn State scored two runs in the first and fourth innings and added a single run in the top of the seventh to defeat Oklahoma 5-2 Friday morning. OU scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh. The five runs and 13 hits by the Nittany Lions were the most allowed by the Sooners this year.
Starter Allee Allen (2-1) gave up a leadoff home run to Cassidy Bell to start the contest and allowed Alyssa Renwick to score on an illegal pitch. Allen left the game after just 1.1 innings. She allowed two earned runs on five hits.
Gascoigne pitched 4.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits. PSU got the two runs on an infield single and error in the fourth. Kirsten Allen pitched the final 1.0 innings and held Penn State to one earned run on RBI triple in the seventh.
Brittany Williams was hit by a pitch to start the seventh and moved to third on a double down the right field line by Dani Dobbs. Pinch hitter Keilani Ricketts drove the pair home on a single to right field.
