ARLINGTON, Texas --A late rally behind Casey Johnson's first home run of the year led No. 2 Oklahoma to a 4-3 win at UT-Arlington on Tuesday. DIllon Overton's 5 1/3 innings and six strikeouts in relief helped the Sooners improve to 10-0 in the first road game of the year.

"It was a hard fought victory, no question," said head coach Sunny Golloway, who is 64-26-1 in one-run games at OU. "Arlington played great. They turned some double plays to kill some rallies, made us hit some pitches and they executed. But I am proud of the way the guys fought."

Johnson's solo shot to right field in the seventh inning came after five scoreless innings for Oklahoma, which trailed 3-2 going into the frame. The homer, OU's 15th of the year, tied the game at three runs apiece. OU eventually regained the lead in the eighth, as Max White scored on a wild pitch with the bases loaded.

"Casey hit a huge bomb to take some pressure off our hitters," said Golloway. "The way he came in the DH spot and hit the ball out with two outs was huge. It really lifted our club and we needed that."

Johnson, a senior, entered the game as a pinch hitter in the fourth and was the 14th of his career and first since March 17, 2010 against UMass.

"It was a great team effort today," said Johnson. "It took everybody to win. I was just happy I was able to get in there and fortunately, the ball went out of the yard."

The Sooners scored two in the first on Cameron Seitzer's two-run single. The Mavericks quickly countered with a run off Jordan John in the bottom half of the frame.

A potential double-play ball and an error led to UTA taking the first lead of the game in the bottom of the third. John would only last three innings in his second start for OU. He surrendered three runs (two earned) off three hits and four walks.

Overton was solid in relief and struck out a career-high six batters and scattered two hits across five innings. Jack Mayfield relieved Overton to record the final two outs and his second save of the year.

"Dillon was masterful," added Golloway.

The Mavericks (2-5) outhit the Sooners 6-4 but was unable to hold on to the lead late in the game as Sam Hansen (0-1) was handed the loss. The reliever only registered 1/3 of an inning but walked three batters.

Tuesday's road game marks the first of five for the Sooners, which finishes with four games in San Diego, Calif. this weekend. OU will play San Diego State (March 3 and 6), San Diego (March 4) and Cal (March 5) in the USD Tournament, which will be played at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
