NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma golfer Ben Klaus shot a final-round 72 (+1) Friday to finish in 10th place out of 84 competitors at the Patriot All-America Invitational in Litchfield Park, Ariz. Klaus finished with a three-round 212 (-1) at the Wigwam Golf Resort.
Cory Whitsett of Alabama claimed medalist honors with a 14-under-par performance.
Klaus opened the final round with a bogey and a pair of birdies on the front nine. He added another bogey on hole No. 11, but recovered on the next hole with his third birdie of the day. Klaus finished the event with a double bogey on No. 18, a hole he had birdied in each of the first two rounds.
"Today was a grind," Klaus said. "I wasn't really hitting it well, but my short game was on. I hit a poor shot into 18, but overall this week was a step in the right direction."
