OU Athletics Volunteers for Boomer Blessings

For the second year, OU Athletics Department staff chose to spend a day volunteering in the community rather than hold a traditional holiday party:

NORMAN, Okla. -- For the second year, OU Athletics Department staff chose to volunteer in their communities rather than hold a traditional holiday party.

Friday's "Boomer Blessings" event sent the Sooners into action in Norman, Moore and Oklahoma City.

During this season of giving, "Boomer Blessings" marked OU's way of giving back to the people that give so much in support of the athletics program, its coaches, student-athletes and support staff.

More than 130 Athletics Department staff members and student-athletes volunteered for the effort. They were split into groups to serve in a variety of ways on a number of different projects:

Mary Abbott Children's House

Meals on Wheels

Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity

Ronald McDonald House

Christmas Connection

Feed the Children

Oklahoma Center for Children & Families
