November 08, 2011 | Athletics

NORMAN, Okla. -- On Tuesday morning, a Sooner fan pushed the official OU Athletics Department Facebook page past the 300,000 mark. The number is an impressive tribute to Sooner fans considering the state's relatively small population.

OU's demographics reflect a national and international reach for the Sooners. Outside Oklahoma, top cities for OU fans include Dallas, Atlanta, Wichita, Houston, Chicago, Kansas City and Seattle. Beyond the U.S., Sooner Facebook fans have joined in numbers from Canada, Mexico, Germany, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Italy, India and Japan.

OU also maintains the No. 1 Twitter feed and No. 1 YouTube channel among Big 12 schools. The Department updates 23 Twitter feeds and 10 Facebook pages representing various sports, venues and interests for Sooner fans. View the complete directory here.
