Huet and Ritchie Advance at Regionals

TULSA, Okla. – Marie-Pier Huet advanced to the quarterfinals in singles and teamed with Whitney Ritchie to win two doubles matches Saturday at the 2011 USTA/ITA Central Regional Championships in Tulsa, Okla.

Huet and Ritchie will play in the doubles semifinal Sunday against Kanyapat Narrattana and Malika Rose of OSU, while Huet will face Patricia Versova of Nebraska in the singles quarterfinals.

Huet and Ritchie defeated Melanie Delsart and Korey Love of Southern Illinois, 8-4, in the Round of 16 before topping Wichita State's Veronika Blaskova and Lucia Kovalova in the quarterfinals, 8-5.

Huet beat OSU's Narrattana in the singles Round of 16 after winning two sets ending in tiebreaker games, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (1).

Sunday will be Huet's second career appearance in the ITA Central Region singles quarterfinal. Huet advanced to the singles semifinal when OU hosted the championship in 2009.
