NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma men's golf team will travel to Shreveport, La., this week to participate in the David Toms Intercollegiate. The tournament, hosted by Louisiana State University, will be played Oct. 17-18 at the par-72, 7,048-yard Southern Trace Country Club.
Oklahoma will look to rebound from a disappointing performance at the Brickyard Intercollegiate, where the Sooners finished in a tie for eighth place.
OU's lineup will feature Abraham Ancer, Riley Pumphrey, Eduardo Castiello, Michael Gellerman and Michael Schoolcraft.
Playing in the No. 1 spot for the Sooners, Ancer leads the Sooners into the event with three top-25 finishes, including two top-10, in OU's first three events. The junior leads the team with a 71.11 scoring average through nine rounds of play.
Pumphrey, a senior, will play in the Sooners' No. 2 position. A reliable member of the OU lineup, Pumphrey finished in ninth and 20th place in his two events.
Castiello is participating in his third event of the year. The Guadalajara, Mexico, product will be looking to add a second top-25 finish on the season.
Gellerman has recorded two top-25 finishes in his freshman campaign. He owns a 72.67 average through the first nine rounds of his collegiate career.
Schoolcraft, a sophomore, rounds out the Sooners' lineup. He ranks third on the team with his 72.00 average.
The 11-team field also includes No. 11 LSU, No. 33 Tulsa, No. 46 Mississippi State, No. 49 SMU, No. 50 Ole Miss, Kansas State, Lamar, Lousiana-Lafayete, Lousiana Tech and South Alabama.
"We are keeping everything simple this week: fairways, greens and putts, and have a lot of heart doing it," said third-year OU head coach Ryan Hybl.
Teams will play the first two rounds Monday in a shotgun format at 8:30 a.m. Each day's results will be posted to SoonerSports.com. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.
