XC to Open Season at Hurricane Festival

NORMAN, Okla.—The University of Oklahoma cross country program opens the 2010 season at the Hurricane Cross Country Festival, Saturday, Sep. 4, at Mohawk Park in Tulsa, Okla.
 
The No. 12 ranked men's team runs the four-mile race at 8 a.m. CT followed by the women's two mile race at 8:35 a.m. against Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts and Tulsa.

Competing for the Oklahoma men are Colin Slattery, Richard Renteria, Alex Muntefering, Patrick Gomez, Ross Larimer and Scott Cooper.  Larimer and Cooper raced the event last season, finishing 26th and 32th, respectively. The Hurricane Festival will be the Oklahoma debut for Slattery, Renteria and Muntefering.

The Oklahoma women will feature Kelly Waters, the 2008 winner of the Hurricane Festival, along with Molly Ferguson who placed 15th and Natalie Crain who placed 23rd last season at the event. Three newcomers round out the roster with Robin Ray, Kelsey Brown and Hilary Krein making their Sooner debut.
