NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf program will host the Second Annual Sooner Open, presented by the Chip-In Club and Hal Smith Restaurant Group, on Friday, Sept. 10, at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.
Proceeds from the event, which takes place the day before the Sooners' football game against Florida State, will benefit the men's golf program. Money raised through Chip-In Club events like the Sooner Open allows OU men's golf to fund capital projects, scholarships and other ventures that allow the Sooners to compete at the highest level.
Last year, 34 four-person teams entered the 18-hole tournament for a great start to the Inaugural Sooner Open, an event that looks to grow each year. Registration will begin at 11 a.m. and a pre-tournament lunch will be provided to all participants. Golf will begin at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start.
An awards program will follow the event at 6:30 p.m. with prizes given to the top eight teams. Last year's winners received a two-day trip to Flint Hills National Golf Club.
