NORMAN, Okla. -- Sooner outfielder Max White was named a 2010 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American on June 9 as announced by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

White is Oklahoma's eighth freshman All-American and fourth under head coach Sunny Golloway after hitting .307 in 56 games played, including 46 starts.  He hit safely in 33 of his starts with 26 of those nods in the lineup coming in left field.

The Durant, Okla., native ranks second among all Sooners with 14 home runs and ranks fourth in the Big 12 Conference.  White hit nine of his 14 home runs against league foes, a conference best, en route to being named All-Big 12 honorable mention. White also ranks eighth in the Big 12 with a .608 slugging pct.

White joins Garrett Buechele (2009), Aaron Baker (2007) and Kody Kaiser (2005) as the other freshman All-Americans recognized under Golloway.

The No. 11 Sooners (47-15) and White, who has hit safely in 25 of last 33 games with 40 hits, 29 RBIs and nine homers, begin action in the NCAA Charlottesville Super Regional against No. 1 Virginia (50-12) this Saturday at 2 p.m. CT on ESPNU.  The best-of-three series continues on Sunday at 3 p.m. on ESPN and the if-necessary game is slated for noon or 6 p.m. on ESPN2.
