NORMAN, Okla. -- Sooner outfielder Max White was honored by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association as a first team Freshman All-American on Monday.

Less than a week ago, White was named a Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American on June 9 as announced by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.  He is the first Sooner freshman since Austin Mix (2000) to be honored by two separate outlets.

White is Oklahoma's eighth freshman All-American and fourth under head coach Sunny Golloway after hitting .315 in 58 games played, including 48 starts.  He hit safely in 35 of his starts with 28 of those nods in the lineup coming in left field.

Most recently, White drove in two runs in the Sooners' Super Regional win over No. 1 Virginia on Sunday off his 15th homer of the season.  OU and Virginia will meet tonight at 6 p.m. CT with a spot in the College World Series on the line.

The Durant, Okla., native ranks second among all Sooners with 15 home runs and ranks fourth in the Big 12 Conference.  White hit nine of his 15 home runs against league foes, a conference best, en route to being named All-Big 12 honorable mention. White also ranks eighth in the Big 12 with a .619 slugging percentage.

White joins Garrett Buechele (2009), Aaron Baker (2007) and Kody Kaiser (2005) as the other freshman All-Americans recognized under Golloway.
