NORMAN, Okla. -- Michael Rocha allowed one run across 7 1/3 innings and the No. 15 Sooners topped No. 14 Arkansas in front of 1,553 fans at L. Dale Mitchell Park on Tuesday.

The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Sooners against the Razorbacks dating back to the last regular season game in Norman on March 12, 2002. It also improved OU's overall record to 38-14 while Arkansas dropped to 38-15.

Rocha (7-1), who made his first start since March 10, allowed his first run of the game in the top of the fourth after striking four batters in the first three frames. At game's end, Rocha tied his career high with seven strikeouts during the longest outing of the year.

"Michael Rocha was special tonight and our team played well," said OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway. "I think it was a big win for us. As far as what this means on a national picture ... who knows at this point? I do know this, it could be a piece to the puzzle if we go play well in Lawrence and find a way to finish (strong)."

Garrett Buechele (3-for-5) homered with two outs in the bottom of the first to give OU a 1-0 lead that it never relinquished. The Sooners finished with nine hits to the Razorbacks' seven led by Buechele's team-leading 24th multiple hit game and Tyler Ogle's two singles.

"It helps us out a lot," said Buechele on the importance of a quality win late in the year. "It gives us a ton of confidence. It's a good ball game to win right there and it will help us out in the long run."

Buechele started a two-out attack that continued in the second frame as Chris Ellison plated Cody Reine on a single to center field. Reine led off the frame with a hit by pitch and stole second prior to scoring on the base knock.

The Sooners jumped out to a 3-0 advantage on Reine's RBI single to right-center field in the bottom of the third.

After Arkansas cut the lead down to 3-1 in the fourth, the Sooners got the run back quickly in the fifth and took a 5-1 lead as Caleb Bushyhead and Danny Black extended their career-high hitting streaks to 14 and 13, respectively, Bushyhead's single led to the first run in the frame as he came around on Tyler Ogle's RBI single. Then Black stepped up two batters later with a RBI single of his own.

OU has won 12 out of 13 midweek games this season, including three wins over ranked opponents (Arkansas and twice versus TCU).

Wednesday's game against Texas Southern has been moved up to a 2 p.m. start due to inclement weather. Fans will receive free admission at L. Dale Mitchell Park and the game can also be heard free on SoonerSports.com.
