OU No. 12 in Directors' Cup Standings

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma's athletics program ranks No. 12 nationally in the most recent release of the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings. The standings include all of the fall and winter sports.
Stanford leads followed by Ohio State, Penn State, Florida and Minnesota.
Among Big 12 schools, OU ranks No. 2. Nebraska currently holds down the No. 6 position. Texas A&M is No. 14 with Iowa State (No. 22) and Texas (No. 23) also among the top 25.
Oklahoma has finished among the top 30 in the Directors' Cup standings in nine of the last 11 years.
The Sooners enjoyed a strong winter showing with the women's gymnastics team finishing No. 2 nationally, the men's gymnastics team No. 3, wrestling No. 5 and women's basketball in the Final Four.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports -- 10 women's and 10 men's.
The first Spring Division I standings will be released Thursday, June 3, 2010.
