NORMAN, Okla. -- Coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history, the Oklahoma men's cross country team received yet more recognition of its hard work, both on the course and off, Monday when it received All-Academic Team honors by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Sooners received the honor by compiling a team score at an NCAA Regional Championship, finishing second at the NCAA Midwest Regional, and having a minimum 3.00 team cumulative GPA. OU's 3.19 team GPA was third among Big 12 schools receiving the honor.

The team award comes a week after junior Rob Sorrell was named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.  The junior from Memphis, Tenn., majors in aviation and helped lead the OU men's cross country team to its highest finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships this past fall while carrying a perfect 4.0 grade point average the past two semesters.
