2010 OU/Texas Ticket Information

March 23, 2010 | Athletics

Arguably the greatest rivalry in college football, the annual Red River Rivalry between Oklahoma and Texas has become the hottest ticket on the Sooners' schedule each year.  We are excited again this year to carry out the seating process for our allotment of tickets, a process that rewards our donors and season ticket holders for their loyalty to OU.

Due to the high demand for OU/Texas tickets, the procedures outlined below have been put in place to most equitably determine the qualification for, and allocation of seats for this event.  If you have any additional questions about OU/Texas tickets, or how your Sooner Club membership affects qualification, seating location, etc., please contact the Sooner Club at (405) 325-8000 or 1-866-SOONER CLUB.

WHO QUALIFIES FOR OU/TEXAS TICKETS?
As a result of the overwhelming demand for tickets to the annual Red River Rivalry, a priority point cutoff has been put in place to determine qualification for OU/Texas tickets.  All season ticket holders with priority point totals above the cutoff are offered the opportunity to purchase the maximum number of OU/Texas tickets allowed at their giving level (see chart below).

This year, the point cutoff was 39, meaning all season ticket holders with 39 or more priority points were offered OU/Texas tickets.  As more fans join the Sooner Club and priority points continue to accumulate, the point cutoff will generally rise between 1-10 points each year.

All season ticket holders who fall below the priority point cutoff are entered into a second chance lottery.  These accounts are placed in a random drawing and those selected are able to purchase two (2) OU/Texas tickets.  In 2009 a total of 750 account holders were offered tickets through the second chance lottery.

HOW MANY TICKETS DO I QUALIFY FOR?
With the increase in capacity of the Cotton Bowl in 2008, the Sooner Club was able to make additional tickets available to its members.  As an added benefit of your support of OU Athletics, the number of tickets allowed for purchase by donors at specific annual giving levels is noted below:

2010 OU/Texas Ticket Qualification by Giving Level*
Sooner Club Giving Level Maximum # of Tickets
Bud Wilkinson Society ($10,000+) 12
Golden Sooner Circle ($5,000-$9,999) 10
Silver Sooner Circle ($3,000-$4,999) 8
Bronze Sooner Circle ($1,500-$2,999) 6
Coaches Sooner Circle ($500-$1,499) 4
Crimson Sooner Circle ($250-$499) 4
Century Sooner Circle ($100-$249) 4

*The total number of OU/Texas tickets any member may receive is limited to the number of season tickets in their account.  For instance, a Golden Sooner Circle member with four (4) season tickets would only qualify for four (4) OU/Texas tickets.  A Golden Sooner Circle member with 12 season tickets would only qualify for 10 OU/Texas tickets.

Priority points will determine qualification for OU-Texas tickets for Sooner Club members at all remaining giving levels and season ticket holders with a maximum of four (4) tickets per account.  Those qualifying accounts with less than four (4) season tickets will have the opportunity to purchase the same number of OU-Texas tickets as the number of season tickets in the account.

HOW ARE SEATING LOCATIONS DETERMINED?
During the seating process, the first determination in the allocation of OU-Texas ticket location is Sooner Club annual giving level followed by priority points within each giving level.  Bud Wilkinson Society members will be allocated seats first, followed by Golden Sooner Circle members (second), Silver Sooner Circle members (third) and Bronze Sooner Circle members (fourth).  Coaches Sooner Circle, Crimson Sooner Circle and Century Sooner Circle members are categorized together and placed in priority point order.

To best utilize our limited inventory, large orders will be split, with no more than six (6) tickets allocated at the "priority" location and all other tickets allocated in a "secondary" location.

CAN I REQUEST SPECIFIC SEATS?
Seating requests for this game are highly encouraged.  Requests may be made in writing on the ticket application or may be mailed, e-mailed or faxed to the Athletics Ticket Office or Sooner Club.  Listing your preferences in order is quite helpful.  Please include specifics such as sections, rows or seat numbers.

Requests will be prioritized based on Sooner Club giving level and priority points within each giving level.  Each request will be reviewed, regardless of donor giving level, and accommodated based on availability.  For your Sooner Club contributions to count toward your priority points and annual giving level for the seating process, they must be made on or before March 31, 2010.
