NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma's Danielle Robinson was named Tuesday to the Wooden Award ballot and State Farm All-Region Team.
Robinson was one of 22 women's basketball players listed on the John R. Wooden Award ballot sent to a distinguished panel of voters, comprised of sports media members and college basketball experts from around the nation. The voters have until March 30 to submit their selections, which will be announced April 9. Five are named to the Wooden All-America team with the top vote getter awarded the Wooden Award as the national player of the year.
The Sooners' point guard joined Texas A&M's Danielle Adams and Tanisha Smith, Nebraska's Kelsey Griffin, Baylor's Brittney Griner, Iowa State's Alison Lacey and Oklahoma State's Andrea Riley on the State Farm All-Region 5 Team.
From the 52 outstanding players of all the regions, the State Farm Coaches' All-America Team selection committee will cut the list to 40 on Tuesday, March 23. The 40 finalists will then be pared to the final 10 members of the State Farm Coaches' All-America Team that will be announced at the Women's Final Four.
Robinson, a junior from San Jose, Calif., averaged 16.9 points and 4.3 assists for the Sooners this season. An All-Big 12 First Team selection, Robinson is also a candidate for the Naismith Trophy and Nancy Lieberman Award.
