NORMAN, Okla. – The 20th-ranked Oklahoma men's tennis team travels to Fort Worth, Texas, Thursday, March 11, to take on No. 39 TCU at 1 p.m. The match will be held at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The Sooners (8-1) have won six-straight matches going into Thursday's showdown with the Horned Frogs (5-2). Last season OU upset then-No. 34 TCU, 5-2, inside the Gregg Wadley Tennis Pavilion. Since 1952 the Sooners hold a 15-10 advantage over the Horned Frogs.
OU jumped one spot to No. 20 in the latest ITA Top-75 Tuesday. In addition to the Sooners lofty ranking, OU possesses three singles players ranked in the ITA top 75. Senior Andrei Daescu leads the way at No. 17. Freshman Costin Paval jumped 18 spots to No. 62 and junior Ionut Beleleu checks in at No. 74.
The Horned Frogs jumped 17 spots in the latest ITA top-75 after an impressive, 6-1, victory over then-No. 24 Tulsa, Friday. TCU is led by sophomore Slah Mbarek. Mbarek opened the fall season ranked the No. 55 player in the ITA preseason singles rankings.
