RIO GRANDE, PR – The Oklahoma men's golf squad climbed three spots up the leaderboard in the final round of the Puerto Rico Classic on Tuesday after a season-low team score of 284 (-4), closing the 54-hole event in 10th place with a season-low tally of 869 (+5).

The Sooners entered Tuesday's play in 13th place after rounds of 292 (+4) and 293 (+5) to begin the tournament.
OU's final round was the fourth-lowest score of any squad in the 15-team field at the par-72, 6,902-yard Rio Mar River Course, as the Sooners did not count a score higher than 72.

Leading the final-round charge was senior Tyler Rody who posted a 3-under-par 69, his lowest score since also posting a 69 in the first round of the Gifford Collegiate at CordeValle on Nov. 8, 2009.  Rody (74-76-69) closed the event in a share of 43rd at 219 (+3).

Riley Pumphrey rebounded from a tournament-opening 74 with back-to-back rounds of 71 and finished T25th at 216 (E).  Three shots clear of Pumphrey was Ben Blundell (70-71-72), who was the lone Sooner in red figures for the tournament at three-under (213).

Rounding out the Oklahoma team scoring were Liam Logan (75-75-72) and Ben Klaus (74-81-76).  Logan's final-round 72 was his lowest round since posting a 69 in the first round of OU's season-opening victory at the Kansas Invitational.

Overnight leader Texas closed the event with a 54-hole tally of 822 (-42) in a six-shot victory over No. 1 Oklahoma State.

Kevin Tway of OSU was the medalist at 17-under after a final round 66 that pushed Tway three shots clear of 36-hole leader Cody Gribble of Texas.

The Sooners return to action at the Border Olympics on March 5-6 in Laredo, Texas.
