Head Coach Jeff Capel
Opening comment:
"I thought they did a good job of attacking both ends of the floor, driving the basketball, and then with their defense. So you give them credit. I thought Rotnei (Clarke) played a very patient game, which allowed him to be pretty efficient in shooting the basketball and making plays. I thought (Jeff) Peterson came in and did a solid job for them.
"We had some good moments, some stretches where we played well. If you look at a stat sheet at the end of a game and you see a team has almost as many offensive rebounds as the other team has total rebounds, and you win the rebounding battle by 19, and you shoot 47 percent from the field, you'd think that team won the basketball game. But our inability to keep a guy in front of us and to value the basketball is what did us in today. That's an area where we have to get better. We have to be able to control that and we have to value every possession out there on the floor."
On how Arkansas was able to turn the Sooners over:
"Some of them we threw right to them, some of them we left our feet to try to make a pass. We probably had at least seven or eight offensive fouls, whether it's pushing a guy as we're cutting, plays that aren't smart. Some of it was their pressure, but I didn't think we had great poise throughout."
On the difficulty for OU to win on a night when Cade Davis is held to nine points:
"We still scored 74 points. That's enough for us to win. That had nothing to do with it. What did us in was our inability to defend, to keep a guy in front. I mean, they shot 57 percent in the first half. That's what hurt us. We scored 74 points with him not really scoring for us. It had nothing to do with our offense, with the exception of valuing the ball. We had 22 turnovers and still had seven more (shots) -- 62 shots to 55 for them. If we cut (turnovers) in half, we have more opportunities to score. And we were executing and getting pretty good shots."
