Running With Cross Country

Throughout the 2010 season, SoonerSports.com will sit down with members of the OU cross country program to provide insight into practice, competition and a few fun facts you should know about each team member. This week we sat down with sophomore Kevin Williams.

Talk about how far you and the team have come this season.
“This season we are really trying to establish ourselves as one of the top programs in the country. Coming in to the year we were ranked 16th and our highest ranking so far has been fifth so we are really trying to get to that next level of being a top team.”

Which race has been your favorite this year and why?
“Probably Pre-Nationals. The course is more my style of course. It was fun to race a lot of other big schools in the country and we won.”

How do you prepare for the next two meets of the season?
“For the next two meets we can't get much more fit. There are a few things we can do, but we just have to try stay healthy and not change anything.”

What do you like most about being a Sooner?
“I really like everything about OU. The overall experience of being a student-athlete is really cool especially at OU with a big athletic department that is really supportive.”

What is your favorite thing about this team?
“We are a very tight group of guys. A lot of us have been here for awhile and we are a family. I think we are tighter than most teams are.”
