Postgame Quotes

November 27, 2010 | Women's Basketball

Oklahoma Head Coach Sherri Coale
On this game being good in terms of overcoming adversity:
"It will help us grow, there is no doubt about that. I thought one of the very important parts for us was that Gardner-Webb did a very good job of trying to keep the game at a pace they felt comfortable with and I felt they won that battle. We want to play a certain way and they want to play a certain way, and this game went their way. That's a good lesson for us to learn. We have to assert our own pace and we have to demand that the game go our way. Some of that has to do with getting stops and blocking out better to get points in transition. We weren't really effective in transition much at all comparatively to what we have been."

On Nicole Griffin's playing time:
"That's time earned. Nicole's (Griffin) is a learner. She really pays attention and she'll take little things and try to turn weaknesses into strengths. She doesn't get overwhelmed by the whole process that she doesn't improve. I thought she was really good last night and that prompted me to put her into the game. When I put her in she did not disappoint and that's why I went back to her in the second half. If she can go in, get fouled and make free throws, I mean look what it did to them. It decimated their post play in terms of depth. Everybody on their team had four fouls."

Oklahoma Senior Guard Danielle Robinson
On how key Joanna McFarland and Jasmine Hartman were:
"I thought they were awesome. Joanna (McFarland) has been playing super well the past four games and you see that with how she plays because she plays so competitive. Jasmine (Hartman) as well. The strives Jasmine has been made this year. I'm excited about how she's playing right now."

Gardner-Webb Head Coach Rick Reeves
Opening statement:
"This is my 26th year of coaching college and 31st year total. I remember when Connecticut wasn't very good, I remember when Duke wasn't very good and I remember when Oklahoma wasn't very good. I've always been impressed with the job Sherri's (Coale) done with this program here. They are first class in every aspect. They are well-coached, good kids, they play hard and physical. They are just good kids, they aren't mouthy kids. We tell our kids you are either first class or no class and Oklahoma is first class all the way. I'm on the top 25 voting for USA Today and I've been giving them a ninth vote but I'm definitelty going to raise them up after seeing them in person. I just think they are a great basketball team."
