Chaminade's Steven Bennett hit a driving layup with 16 seconds remaining to break a 64-64 tie and Mamadou Diarra made a pair of free throws with eight seconds left to defeat Oklahoma on the third day of the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational. The Sooners finished 0-3 in the tournament and fell to 3-3 on the year.
The Sooners lost despite shooting .472 from the field (third best mark of the year) and committing a season-low eight turnovers (they averaged 17.0 turnovers the previous three games).
Chaminade outrebounded OU 31-28 and scored 17 second-chance points to the Sooners' 11.
Junior guard Cade Davis scored a season-high 24 points (one shy of his career high) and added a team-high six rebounds. Davis averaged 20.7 points and 5.7 boards in the tournament. He now needs just five treys to move into the top 10 on OU's all-time list.
Sophomore forward Andrew Fitzgerald was the only other Sooner who scored in double figures (11 points). He was 5-for-8 from the field and is shooting .561 on the year.
Sophomore guard Carl Blair (nine points, five assists) and freshman forward Tyler Neal (one point, two rebounds) made their first starts as Sooners.
Oklahoma entered the Maui Invitational shooting .806 from the free throw line but recorded a .587 figure (27-for-46) over its three games in Hawaii. OU is now shooting .717 on the season.
