Head Coach Jeff Capel
Opening comment:
"I'm really proud of my team. I thought we fought, thought we competed. We put ourselves in a position down the stretch where we had an opportunity down six with a little under three minutes left. You have to give credit to Kentucky. They're a very talented team and they made plays throughout the game. They were able to take advantage of some mismatches.
"I felt last year when we recruited him that Terrence Jones was the best player in the country in his class. There were a lot of guys who got a lot of accolades, but I just didn't see anyone who could have an impact on a game like he could. He certainly did that this afternoon and I anticipate him continuing to do that throughout his career at Kentucky.
"They're a talented team, they shoot the ball very well. They're going to continue to get better, and I think we will too. If we compete like we did this afternoon, I like our chances going forward."
On how his team competed around the basket:
"I thought we competed. Coming in, one of the things I witnessed when watching Kentucky on tape is that I thought we could put them in ball screen situations. And I thought if we had patience and got the ball moving, we could get driving opportunities. We talked to our guys about how we had to finish strong because they have those big bodies and long, athletic guys down there who can step over and make plays. But I thought our guys did a good job of doing that.
"I love the way our guys competed. I love the way we never quit and continued to battle."
Senior Guard Cade Davis
On his 3-pointer that got blocked by Terrence Jones late in the game when OU was down by six:
"I just took a bad shot. It wasn't forced too much; didn't let the play continue. I should have swung it back around the back side. With his length, it was a bad decision on my part. But he's a good defensive player and he made a play. And it cost us."
