Cross Country Jumps to No. 6 Nationally

NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma men's cross country team jumped to No. 6 in the nation in the latest rankings provided Tuesday by the U.S Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Oklahoma received one first-place vote for the first time this season and was one of four teams to receive a first-place vote in the rankings, as they moved up two spots from No. 8.

Last week the OU men won the NCAA Midwest Regional title for the first time in program history. Five runners earned All-Midwest Region honors in route to the title with OU's top finisher Kevin Schwab placing second overall. Oklahoma finished ahead of in-state rival and then No. 1 Oklahoma State to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, Nov. 22, in Terre Haute, Ind.
