The Series
• Texas A&M and Oklahoma are meeting for the 39th time. OU holds the advantage in the series with a 25-13 record, but have lost the past two meetings and five of the last seven. The Sooners have a 15-2 record against the Aggies in Norman.

The Coaches
Sherri Coale is 296-136 (.685) in her 14th season at Oklahoma. She has been the Big 12 Coach of the Year four times.
• Gary Blair is 551-230 (.706) in his 25th season as a head coach. He is 143-67 (.681) in his seventh season at Texas A&M.

PREVIEWING OKLAHOMA
The Sooners were picked by the league's coaches to finish fifth in the strong Big 12 Conference this season.

The Sooners enter 2009-10 following one of its best seasons in history. Oklahoma notched a program record 32 wins, won its sixth Big 12 regular season title and made its second trip to the Final Four. OU returns eight letterwinners from the squad, including three starters. PreseasonAll-American Danielle Robinson and senior co-captain Amanda Thompson will lead the charge.

 Sooner to Watch

Danielle Robinson | Jr. | Guard
Sooner point guard Danielle Robinson has scored 15 points in each of the first two Big 12 games played this season, but has visited the free throw line just twice in the past three games. She'll need to pick up the freebies to help matchup with Texas A&M, who get 20 percent of their points at the charity stripe.

PREVIEWING TEXAS A&M
The eighth-ranked Texas A&M women's basketball team carries a seven-game winning streak into its third consecutive top 25 matchup.

The Aggies, who are usually known for their pressure defense, currently boast the fourth-best scoring offense (82.8) and third-best field goal percentage in the country (.491). No other A&M squad has averaged more than 79.7 points per game or 47.4 percent from the floor in 36 years of Aggie Basketball.

The Aggies are among only four Big 12 teams with a conference road win this season.

Tanisha Smith leads three Aggies who average double-figure scoring, totaling 17.3 points per game. Junior college transfer Danielle Adams (15.4) and Tyra White (10.1) are the others.

Coale's 300th Win Approaching
Sherri Coale will be aiming for her 297th coaching win when OU hosts Texas A&M, Sunday, Jan. 17.

Coale's first win came in her first game as OU's head coach, a 62-50 victory over Oral Roberts on Nov. 22, 1996. The 100th win came 170 games later on Feb. 5, 2002, a 69-60 win over then-No. 10 Baylor at Norman.

Win No. 200 came 141 games later on March 8, 2006, a 78-74 win over Iowa State in the first round of the Big 12 Championship.

Coale Winningest in Big 12
Oklahoma head coach Sherri Coale has a record of 137-74 in Big 12 regular-season conference games.

Coale is in her 14th season coaching the Sooners, all since the BIg 12 formed in 1996-97. Since then, no coach past or present has more wins in league play.

Iowa State's Bill Fennelly and Kansas State's Deb Patterson are the only other active coaches who were at their respective schools when the league was formed.

Thompson Becoming One of a Kind
Senior forward Amanda Thompson, a.k.a. `The Waitress', loves to serve up people. She's only the second Sooner ever -- the other being Courtney Paris -- to record 100 blocks and 100 steals in her career.

Thompson is also nearing her 1,000th point, 700th rebound and 250th career assist, which puts her in a class of her own.

Oklahoma's Wins...and Losses...Are Quality
Oklahoma has played the nation's second-toughest schedule, behind only Stanford. Oklahoma's four losses have come to teams currently ranked in the top 10, who share a combined record of 60-4.

Uncharted Territory
Oklahoma is 1-1 early in the Big 12 season and facing unfamiliar territory with a rivalry game against Texas A&M upcoming. If the defending Big 12 Champion Sooners fall to 1-2 in league play, it will be the first time since the 2005 season (8-8 in Big 12 play) and just the second time this decade they have done so.

NEXT UP
Oklahoma travels to Missouri to face the Tigers at the Hearns Center in Columbia Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised on the Sooner Sports Network.
