BELGRADE, Serbia -- Oklahoma's Danielle Robinson supplied five points in Team USA's 93-59 victory of Great Britain Thursday in the second round of pool play at the 2009 World University Games.
Robinson added four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 18 minutes off the bench as the gold medal favorites took a 2-0 advantage in Group A.
The U.S. took an early advantage and was never challenged, streaking to 27-7 first-quarter and 49-22 halftime leads.
"I was pleased. I thought we really set the tone with our defense," USA head coach Charli Turner Thorne said. "We knew they could shoot it well and they were going to try to pull our posts out, spread us out. I think we handled it well and created a lot of offense off of our defense. We had some lulls. It's always hard when you go up that big to stay focused. All in all, it was a great team effort."

Following its win against France when the Americans relied on perimeter shooting to break up the zone, Thursday Team USA used its size advantage against the Brits to grab a 55-30 rebounding advantage and score 48 points in the paint.
Ohio State's Jantel Lavender led three Americans in double-figure scoring with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Franklin Pierce College star Johannah Leedham led Great Britain with 17 points, helped by a 6-for-6 free-throw performance, and seven boards.
The U.S. squad wraps Group A's preliminary play against host Serbia Friday. Serbia (0-1) meets France (1-0) later on Thursday.
“They're very offensively talented,” Turner Thorne said of Serbia. “It's hard to know who their key players are because (Serbia head coach Sladan Ivic) plays everybody. A lot of them come in and are very aggressive offensively. They shoot it really well. They're not really a low block team like us, but they're a very typical international team. They're going to try to spread us out, try to beat us off the dribble.”
