NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma men's golf program announced the signing of Nathan Hughes to a National Letter of Intent on Thursday.  Hughes will join previous Oklahoma signees Nathan Chambers and Davis Lee for the 2009-10 golf season.

The Bartlesville, Okla., native captured the 2009 Oklahoma 6A state title at Emerald Falls Golf Club in Broken Arrow, Okla., earlier this spring.  Hughes sealed the win in dramatic fashion with a 12-footer for birdie on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff over Texas Tech signee Chandler Rusk.

Hughes won back-to-back Centennial Conference titles (2008 and '09), while lettering in golf all four years at Bartlesville HS.  A 2009 all-state selection, Hughes successfully defended his medalist title at the 2009 PGA Junior Series at Kickingbird after winning the event last year as well.

The 2008 Bartlesville city champion won six tournaments for the Bruins and qualified for the 2008 Junior World Championship at Torrey Pines and the 2008 Junior PGA Championship at TPC Rivers Bend.

Hughes is the latest Oklahoma 6A state champion to sign with a collegiate program, joining Stephen Carney – 2008 (Tulsa), Kevin Tway 2006 and 2007 (OSU), Ty Sanders - 2005 (Wichita State), Phillip Bryan – 2004 (OU) and Mitch Cohlmia - 2003 (Tulsa).
