Derrick Earns Coaching Honor

NORMAN, Okla.--The University of Oklahoma rowing assistant coach Andy Derrick was named the South Regional Assistant Coach of the Year by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.
The Assistant Coach of the Year award is designed to recognize an assistant coach or associate head coach who meets one or more of the following criteria: Outstanding commitment to his/her program, made a significant impact on the success of his/her program and demonstrated a high level of professionalism and integrity as a coach.
Derrick coached the novice team to numerous wins during the season, including a win at the Big 12 Championship in the novice eight competition, a silver medal at the SIRA Championships in novice four competition, an appearance in the Grand Final at the San Diego Crew Classic by the novice eight and an appearance in the Grand Finals at the NCAA South/Central Regional by the novice eight.
The award winners are now eligible to win the National Coach of the Year and Assistant Coach of the Year Awards to be voted on in June.
