NORMAN, Okla. -- Senior J.T. Wise, the Big 12 Player of the Year, and juniors Bryant Hernandez (INF) and Jamie Johnson (OF) were named to the All-Big 12 first team on Tuesday, as voted on by the conference's coaches.
Joining the three first team members on the second team was Big 12 Freshman of the Year, Garrett Buechele (3B), juniors Aaron Baker (1B) and Andrew Doyle (SP), and sophomore Ryan Duke (RP).
The seven honorees combined on the first and second teams led the Big 12 in 2009. Only the 1998 Sooners have placed that many members on the first and second team for OU in the Big 12 era.

"The coaches are extremely proud of what this team has accomplished and this recognition is icing on the cake," said OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway. "It says a lot about how our players have performed on the field when all of these awards are voted on by the rest of the coaches in the conference."
The last time OU had a first team member was in 2004 (Jarod McAuliff and Russell Raley) and 1998 marked the last time three Sooners were named to the first team (five members). OU also had three first team honorees in 1997.
Baker and Johnson were recognized for the second time in the careers by the Big 12 coaches. Baker (2007) and Johnson (2008) were both honorable mentions during their first seasons at Oklahoma.
The No. 8 Sooners begin their run for a Big 12 Championship on Wednesday, May 20 against Texas Tech. First pitch is slated for 7:30 p.m. at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.
