AKRON, Ohio – Select University of Oklahoma wrestlers were on the mat last weekend competing at the University Men's Freestyle Nationals in Akron, Ohio, April 25-26.
Sooner Joe Bach placed fourth and Keldrick Hall earned sixth at 120 and 96 kg, respectively. Bach, a product from Liberal, Kan., recorded a 5-2 record on the weekend. Hall, a freshman from Dallas, Texas, posted a 3-3 mark. Both advanced to the semifinals.
Also competing for the Sooners was redshirt freshman Derek Peperas and freshman Erich Schmidtke. Peperas posted a 2-2 record on the weekend at 74 kg, while Schmidtke fell one victory short of placing at 84 kg with a 3-2 effort.
Additionally, Oklahoma wrestling graduate assistant Josh Zupancic tallied a 4-2 record competing in the 74 kg weight class.
Next up, four Sooners – Hall, Bach, Schmidtke and Justin Forrest – will compete at the FILA Junior World Team Trials in Colorado Springs, Colo., May 25-26.
